Majestic Merino has a unique range of pure, itch-free, quality merino wool products, produced from Australian sheep carefully selected and bred for their soft handling wool.
The sheep are bred in the Lower Great Southern Region of Western Australia, the lambs being carefully classed at one year old, and ewes prior to their first mating. At shearing, each fleece is carefully skirted and classed into lines to eliminate any fleeces that do not meet the necessary quality standard. The selected fleece lines are then sent for processing into a fully worsted product.
A small-proportion of top is made available to hand spinners, with the balance spun into 2 and 8 ply yarn. A crepe yarn in 8 ply has been chosen to give a quality yarn with extra twist that reduces pilling and provides a long lasting garment.
A large range of coIours is available. Our yarn matches many DK patterns from the English Women's Weekly. The 8 ply yarn knits at 22.5 to 23 stitches per 10 cm. Some yarn has also been treated with the Superwash (machine washable) process. This is available in the 8 ply Natural and in the 2 ply yarns
Majestic Merino wool is used with great pleasure for knitting, crochet, weaving, tapestry and canvas work, spinning, rug making, felting and more.
